v ENVIRONMENT
Ø
The
place, people, things and nature that surround any living organism is called
environment. It is derived from the French word “Environer/ Environner” meaning
“neighbourhood”.
v COMPONENT
OF ENVIRONMENT
Ø Natural
Environment-The things which are created by nature
in our surrounding is called as natural environment. It comprise both biotic
and abiotic. For example-Land, water,
air etc.

world of living organisms is called as biotic

world of non living organisms is called as abiotic.

They
have life

COMPONENTS OF ENVIRONMENT |
Ø Domains
of the Earth-
§ Lithosphere-The
solid crust or the hard top layer of the earth is called as lithosphere. There
are various landforms on the lithosphere in continents and oceans floors like
mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, etc.
§ Hydrosphere-The
domain of water is referred to as hydrosphere. It comprises various
sources of water and different types of water bodies like rivers, lakes, seas,
oceans, etc.
§ Atmosphere-
The thin layer of air that surrounds the earth is called as atmosphere. . It
protects us from the harmful rays and scorching heat of the sun. It consists of
a number of gases, dust and water vapour.
§ Biosphere-
The narrow zone of the earth where land, water and air interact with each other
to support life is called as biosphere.
Ø Human
made environment-The things which are made by human
beings in natural environment are called as human made environment. For example
Dams, buildings, parks, Industries.
Ø Human
environment-The natural environment which is modified
by human beings for their more benefit is called as human environment. In the
earlier time human beings utilize natural environment directly. But within the
time human beings modified the natural environment to make their life easy. For
example-
§ Wheel invented
for fast movement
§ Grow new crops
for their food
§ Trade and
commerce started
§ Industrial
revolution
v IMPORTANCE OF
ENVIORNMNET
Ø It is our life
support system. It provides the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we
eat and the land where we live.
Ø It also protects
us from harmful sun rays.
Ø It
also comprises all the minerals in lithosphere.
v ECO
SYSTEM- It is a system formed by the interaction
of all living organisms with each other and with the physical and chemical
factors of the environment in which they live, all linked by transfer of energy
and material.
v Barter
system- Exchange of goods without using money is
called as barter system.
